About Us

Helios was established in 1999 as a property development and investment company with substantial backing from a Saudi Arabian contracting business. It emerged from the old National Freight Consortium (NFC) in the UK and now has offices in Tees Valley, Leeds, London, Zagreb and Abu Dhabi. We have developed more than six million square feet of space in the past ten years including logistics, industrial, offices, retail, leisure and residential schemes.

We are currently active in European logistics where we own Zagreb Logistics Park and have an ongoing development programme and in Abu Dhabi where we are developing two million square feet of office and residential space through our Helios SinoGulf joint venture. In the UK we are a founding partner in Wynyard Park which is a seven hundred acre site in the Tees Valley which already comprises around one million square feet of commercial space and has created some 1500 jobs.

Leadership

Helios has an experienced and professional management team with many years of experience in property, law and banking. The board is led by Trevor Cartner as Chairman, with Patrick Mitchell as Operations Director and Assem Khairy as Non Executive Director.

Trevor Cartner
Trevor is a founding main Board Director of Helios, establishing the company in 1996 when it merged with his own company Fifth Avenue. He has over 20 years experience at director level and has ongoing responsibility for the strategic direction and management of the Helios business.

Patrick Mitchell
Patrick Mitchell is a qualified solicitor and has acted as Group Operations Director since March 2009.

Assem Khairy
Born in 1949 Assem joined Citibank in 1974. There he spent time initially in Jordan and Saudi Arabia, working in various positions in the Corporate Bank. In 1985 he moved to London to establish and head the Middle East/Africa Private Bank Division, growing the business from start-up to one of major international significance. In 1991 he left the bank to manage the offshore assets of one of his major clients, the majority shareholder in Helios.
